“In a world beyond this one, that river goes on singing sweetly, enchanting us with what we want to hear, and shaping what we need to see in order to keep going. In those waters, all disappointments are forgotten, our mistakes forgiven. Gazing into them we see a strong father, a loving mother, and warm rooms where we are sheltered, adored, wanted. And the uncertainty of our futures is nothing more than the fog of breath on a windowpane.”—Gemma Doyle, The Sweet Far Thing (via hold-your-ponies)
I don’t know! My one friend can not stand her, but she’s one of my favorite characters- especially later on in the books.
i see people hating on her all the time but really all she ever did was trying to protect her family
One of the reasons I’ve heard was the way she treats Jon- but honestly, it’s hard to blame her. The way she was brought up, and with she had to go through in the start of her marriage, having Ned bring home a bastard and keeping him around is a huge insult to her (although I love Jon and Ned to death.) ESPECIALLY since Ned never even told her who Jon’s mother is- although that’s a different topic altogether.
PENCIL:I'm sorry, 'couse you get hurt because of me. Whenever I make a mistake, you're always there to erase it. But as you make my mistakes vanish, you lose a part of yourself. You get smaller and smaller every time.
ERASER:That's true, but i don't really mind. You see, I was made to do this. I was made to help you whenever you do something wrong. Even though, one of these days, I know I'll be gone and you have to replace me with a new one, I'm actually happy with my job. So please, stop worrying. I hate seeing you sad.
I woke up in a terrible mood today because of reasons, but I’ve been getting compliments and generally good news all day so far!
I still feel like crap, but it’s nice knowing I have great people in my life. :’)
#mary shelley #this quote though #it’s all kinds of wonderful #hey remember that time one asswipe was like you have 30 seconds to name something invented by a woman… #…and Mary was like SCIENCE FICTION MOTHERFUCKERS #that was awesome #thanks Mary Shelley (via snappily)
And the next time someone starts claiming that teenage girls have ruined the horror genre with romance or whatever you can be like, hey dicksmack, teenage girls and romance built your genre so sit the fuck down.
